Since 2009, the Federal government has been shifting its data storage needs away from data centers toward cloud-based services. Agencies are in the thick of making a secure and cost-effective transition to the cloud as they move toward full compliance with the Cloud First policy. With that shift comes a wide array of questions that need to be answered. What progress have agencies made in moving applications to the cloud, and what lessons can be learned from those which have made the most progress? Why is app migration critical to advancing cloud use in agencies, and what challenges does that migration pose? How has shifting toward the cloud increased collaboration across agencies? What can be done to help advance migration at a faster pace?
